John 3:16closeJohn 3:16 16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (ESV) tells us that Jesus was sent so that we would “not perish, but have eternal life.” In other words, He was sent to save us from the consequences of the mistakes that we’ve made in life. The things that we did that went against what God wanted of us.
Everyone’s guilty of going against God’s wishes at one point or another.
To save us, Jesus took the blame for our mistakes onto Himself and paid the price for us. He sacrificed Himself, died, and arose again three days later. He conquered death, and all of the consequences of our mistakes for us. And He’s made this salvation available to everyone who has a loving relationship with Him.
That relationship starts with trust. We must first trust that the sacrifice that Jesus made for us was enough for our forgiveness. That all of our mistakes are forgiven because of what he’s done for us.
Not only do we trust Him for forgiveness, but we also trust Him with our lives. We strive to live the way He told us to in the Bible. Not to meet some religious standard, but because we believe He’s trustworthy.
This is what we at River of Life call “Loving Christ.” If you have more questions about what it means to Love Christ and want to talk to someone about it, you can shoot us an email: firstname.lastname@example.org
